Anam Cara was born in a small flat in Glasgow's West End, surrounded by ink-stained fingers, hand-torn cotton papers, and the quiet belief that something truly beautiful could be made for every couple who walked through the door.
Our founder had spent years as a graphic designer, but it was a friend's wedding -- and the underwhelming stationery options available -- that sparked a different path. She wanted to create something that people would hold and feel. Something that captured not just names and dates but the essence of a relationship. Something that made the recipient pause, smile, and maybe even get a little emotional before the big day had even arrived.
The name Anam Cara -- “soul friend” in Scottish Gaelic -- was chosen with intention. In Celtic tradition, your anam cara is the person who sees you as you truly are and loves you without condition. It seemed the perfect name for a studio dedicated to celebrating exactly that kind of love.
Today, we work with couples across Scotland and beyond, designing suites that range from the quietly minimal to the lavishly gilded. But no matter the style, the philosophy remains the same: your love story is unique, and your stationery should be, too.
Every suite is assembled, finished, and packaged by hand in our Glasgow studio. We believe that the care you put into the making is felt by the person who holds it. From foil-pressing to wax sealing, our hands touch every piece.

Located on Washington Street in Glasgow's city centre, our studio is a space where creativity meets craftsmanship. Natural light pours through tall windows onto tables scattered with paper samples, ink swatches, and botanical cuttings gathered from the Botanic Gardens around the corner.
We invite every couple to visit -- to touch the papers, see the foils catch the light, and talk through their vision over a cup of tea. There is nothing quite like holding a sample in your hands and knowing it is the one.
Consultations are available by appointment, and we are also happy to work remotely with couples further afield. Distance has never stopped a good love story, and it won't stop us from creating something beautiful together.
